There are many definitions of a blog in the web, but, for me it is….
- Simply just an online journal which can be of anything or anyone Click To Tweet.
- Its a platform to express your views, your opinions and your expertise with your global audiences (can be local as well) powered by internet.
- By the course of its development, it has become one of the major tool for sharing information via web as like other offline medias viz newspapers, magazines etc but more reliable and far reached because of the rapid growth in the field of information technology.
We know a bit about what actually a blog is, now lets move on to another chapter…
Types and Nature of a Blog
Well, a blog has got many types as per its function and objective. But, some of the most generic types of a blog are ..
Personal Blog:- As the name suggests, this is a type of blog which is created for expressing your personal portfolio into the web. It can be about yourself, your works, your experiences, your views etc. It can be mentioned as your digital card out there. The major motto of this type of blog is to make yourself visible in web. Many travel blogs, biographies fall under this type. Perez Hilton, Neil Patel are some examples of personal blogs where the respective bloggers share their experiences and expertise.
Professional/ Business Blog:- This is the type of blog which is mostly used by professionals, entrepreneurs, companies with a primary purpose to expand their business or professionalism. They use business blogs to engage, nurture and to create a positive networking environment with their old customers as well as to get new customers by expressing the motive of their company or products. Business blogs are also used to get customers’ feedback on a company’s certain products or services instantly or a professional’s work on a certain assignment, so that they can determine their shortcomings and improve the performance in coming days. Quick Sprout, Disney park, CorpNet, Noobpreneur are some of the business blogs.
Non-Profits Blog:- This type of blog focuses on raising awareness on social issues, collecting charities online for special social causes like child rights, women empowerment, human trafficking etc. They do not intend to make any money but aim to become the mediator between the social cause and its visitors. Huffpost Impact, Chronicle of Philanthropy , Charity Navigator Blog, etc are non-profits blogs to name some few.
Organization Blog:- This is a total opposite of personal blog we discussed earlier. Here, the blog satisfies the specific customers or subscribers of certain organization which can be governmental, business, profit and non-profit. Blogs about Schools, Communities, Sports Clubs, Political parties, Military etc fall under this category. Real Madrid, NFL Blog, Republican National Committee blog, Harvard University Blog are some falling under this type.
Niche Blog:- This is a total new type of blog which can be categorized on business blog type but, i better thought to give it a different segment. This actually is a type of blog which deals with particular niches or topics by being very specific only about its main
theme. Like, if you are creating a blog relating to weight loss which is itself a broad topic (covering a lot of other sub topics), then that would be a business blog. But, for instance, if you are creating a blog specifically for weight loss for women, or nutrition for pregnant women; this specifies a certain niche within a category health and nutrition and such type of blog is a niche blog.
Ahhh…. Well, majority of blogs around the globe do fall under the types mentioned above, so we move onto another segment of our post….
